Fast magnetosonic wave
WebDec 16, 2024 · Previous studies demonstrated that frequency harmonic structures of fast magnetosonic (MS) waves are usually excited by the hot proton instability. Here, we present an unusual event of MS waves with more than six harmonics wavebands ( n = 1–6) in which their high harmonic bands are highly phase-coupled with their fundamental … WebOct 14, 2024 · Fast magnetosonic (MS) waves, also named equatorial noise, is one of the universal magnetospheric waves, and the others include whistle mode chorus waves, hiss, and electromagnetic ion cyclotron (EMIC) waves. Different from the other waves, MS wave shows the unique properties of linear ellipiticity and quasi-perpendicular propagation.
