WebAug 3, 2010 · i bowhunt mostly, with wood arrows. several years ago i started using helmsman spar urethane as a last coat on my wood shafts. the stuff is impervious to water and seals shafts better than anything i have ever tried. in the last 10 years or so i have been painting all the exposed or unfinished wood (barrel channels, etc.) on my rifles.
